The classic Christmas poem Old Santaclaus with Much Delight with comprehension questions and writing challenge. Answers to the comprehension questions are included. The accompanying illustrations are also included.
This traditional anonymously written and illustrated children’s poem was published in New York in 1821, and was the first to mention and illustrate a Santa character.
Note that the final stanza of the eight stanza poem refers to naughty children being beaten by their parents.

Three animal-related activities where pupils must add punctuation to information texts about three animals: badgers, hedgehogs and spiders.
Pupils must read the texts and add the missing punctuation, including the following:
• Capital letters for the start of sentences
• Capital letters for proper nouns
• Full stops
• Question marks
• Commas in a list
• Commas in compound sentences
• Commas after fronted adverbials
• Apostrophes for possession
These tasks are useful when learning about or revising punctuation, including sentence punctuation. The non-chronological report style texts help to familiarise pupils with this non-fiction genre, and the subject matter, animals, is of interest to children.
The three texts are differentiated by type of punctuation used and sentence structure.
Each sheet comes with its own answer key.

The differentiated WAGOLL contains a conversation between Beowulf, his father, Edgetheow, and his uncle, King Hygelac, when he decides to travel to Denmark to kill Grendel. It is based on a part of the story containing no direct speech. Differentiated feature find sheets with answers and word bank are also included.

Three fun, engaging dragon-themed example texts that children will love to use.
The example WAGOLL texts included in the bundle are:
• a set of instructions: How to Defeat the Wawel Dragon;
• a persuasive letter: Letter About a Cockatrice Dragon;
• a non-chronological report: All About Knucker Dragon
All texts include a variety of language, grammar and punctuation features. A tailored feature find worksheet is provided with each text so that children can identify the writing features within the text. Answers to these activity sheets are also given.
The texts can be used as exemplars for the particular genre of writing, as part of a unit about mythical or legendary creatures or as fun, engaging stand-alone lessons!

Pupils sort notes about the Chinese Lung Dragon into categories for a non-chronological report. They then use these categorised notes to write their own non-chronological report about the Chinese Lung Dragon. This can be incorporated into study of the Chinese New Year.
Pupils enjoy reading and sorting the 30 facts about the lung dragon. This engaging activity can be done individually or in pairs.

Differentiation
The task is differentiated three ways. It is made less complex with a simplified list with only 20 facts and a simplified grid with fewer categories. It is made more complex with a grid without headings (pupils must decide their own). All differentiated sheets have been provided.
This resource works well with the example non-chronological report about the Knucker Dragon, to provide an exemplar for children’s own report writing.
